Having suffered with dyslexia, Tomas Black found grade school to be very difficult. When he was 11 years old his parents sent him to summer camp. There he was exposed to the world of ceramics. This changed his world forever.

Today he is the owner of The Potter’s Room in downtown Ithaca, NY. He loves to teach and wants to change others lives for the better through pottery.

Tomas Black graduated from Alfred University in 2009 with a BFA in ceramics. In addition to ceramics he is trained in glass casting/ blowing, metal casting/welding, paint and sketch, mixed media, and sculpture. Tomas’s ceramics range from custom wares for homes and businesses to fine art pieces, which he calls “story pots” due to their narrative based quality.
