How WSKG's 2026 Voter Guide was made:
Candidates running in federal, state and local races at the county legislature level in the Southern Tier and Finger Lakes regions were all contacted via email.
Emails were sent with the WSKG Voter Guide questionnaire and instructions on how to submit answers to WSKG along with a word count maximum and deadline of Sept. 16.
In some instances, where public campaign information was not available, additional attempts were made to contact incumbents through their official channels and their challengers through their respective county party leadership.
Some candidates were also contacted in person, via phone and through social media.
The initial deadline was extended for some candidates who requested an extension or are running at the federal and state level.
Federal candidates were given two deadline extensions with the final deadline to submit Oct. 5.
Except for minor copy edits for spelling, grammar and word count, all answers are presented as they were submitted.
