Broadcast Engineer
WSKG Public Broadcasting seeks a Broadcast Engineer to ensure
the current and future quality of all television and radio
broadcast signals through proactive maintenance of all broadcast
equipment, towers, and transmitters. WSKG is a joint licensee
with one television station, two radio stations, and a full
network of transmitter sites throughout the Southern Tier of
NY. WSKG has recently completed digital conversion of both
radio and television facilities and is seeking a qualified
candidate to manage and maintain these state-of-the-art facilities.
Responsibilities include: maintenance, repair, testing and
FCC compliant operation of all radio and television broadcast
equipment; provide technical expertise and recommendations
to meet or exceed broadcast performance criteria; monitor broadcast
and production systems/equipment and respond to technical problems
and requests for system repairs; and provide support for modifications
to broadcast and production systems.
Candidates should possess a BS in Engineering or other technical
field (trade school, military training or significant experience
may be substituted) as well as at least two years of experience
working with broadcast equipment. Must have demonstrated knowledge
of and the ability to troubleshoot to the component level of
all analog and digital electronic equipment and broadcast production
systems. Also required are solid communication skills and the
ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, be
self-directed and able to manage multiple priorities.
Additional
preferred experience would include: SBE certification and/or
FCC broadcast licensing, experience with computer networks
and network protocols,
familiarity with radio and television standards and knowledge
of relevant emerging transmission protocols and technologies.

Director of Development
WSKG Public Broadcasting is seeking a Director of Development
to advance the mission of the station through implementation
and oversight of new and existing revenue streams. Responsibilities
will include: provide leadership to multiple fundraising departments
(membership, major giving, underwriting, auction and marketing)
in order to ensure that station fundraising goals are met;
participate as a member of the senior management team, reporting
to the CEO, to coordinate the development of the overall strategic
plan and annual calendar; continually monitor and review all
fundraising and marketing activities, including production
fundraising; and professionally represent the station within
the community by participating in community events, serving
on appropriate committees and volunteer organizations and otherwise
advancing the unique role and importance of public broadcasting
within our community.
Candidates
should possess a Bachelor’s degree in an
applicable field as well as a minimum of eight years of managerial
experience in a fundraising or not-for-profit environment.
Also required is a proven track record of fundraising success
and goal achievement as well as keen supervisory skills with
the ability to effectively lead multiple departments. Additional
preferred experience would include: established relationships
with media, businesses, community groups and local government
as well as experience managing a major giving initiative. Compensation

Community Outreach &
Education
Initiatives
This position
is responsible for performing community outreach in support
of the mission of WSKG’s Education department.
This mission supports the role of public service media in life-long
learning across three focus areas: Ready to Learn, K-12, and
Adult Education.
Responsibilities include: develop, promote and facilitate
training events to be utilized by the local education community;
manage efforts to promote utilization of station programming
and technology to teachers and other education professionals;
collaborate with staff and community partners to develop STEM
(science, technology, engineering, math) learning opportunities;
foster relationships with area schools, colleges and teacher
centers; represent WSKG at any state or national education
meetings or conference calls; and maintain the WSKG Education
website and newsletter.
Candidates
should possess a Bachelor’s degree in an
Education field as well as at least two years of teaching experience
and familiarity with integrating technology and media into
a classroom curriculum. Also required are excellent interpersonal
skills with the ability to communicate with people from a wide
variety of backgrounds, and the willingness to work some nights
and weekends and travel within our viewing region.
Additional preferred experience would include: graduate work
or degree in an education-related field of study, teaching
certification, and existing relationships within the local
education community, as well as previous experience working
in a partnering or collaborative situation with other organizations.
