Assembly Required

The event is huge, the clock is ticking and we are awaiting the final shots… but the playing field consists of robots, remote controls, plus moon rocks and Mars Rovers? Meet area students who put science FIRST. “For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology” is an organization founded by Dean Kamen. Dean is working to make science and technology available to every kid in the world.

Every year, FIRST holds robotics competitions drawing thousands of teams to participate. Assembly Required catches up with some students at the Wings of Eagles Discovery Center who are at the grassroots of building robots using Legos. You will also meet Team TRx-145 out of Norwich, New York. Follow this team on their journey to The Rochester Institute of Technology to compete at the Regional FIRST competition and see what all the excitement is about!

This project was made possible with funding from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.
