The photograph "Doge's Palace" was
taken in Venice, Italy. It is also known as the Palazzo Ducale. It
was the seat of government for centuries as well as the home of the
elected ruler of Venice, The Doge. The Bridge of Sighs is located
within the Palace.
Early in the morning upon arrival by
boat to Venice, the fog was lifting and I began photographing this
beautiful city. I enjoy photographing unique architecture from
different angles. This image highlights the gorgeous sculptures on
the rooftops of the palace.
Biography:
I am a life-long artist with a passion for beauty and
composition. As an educator with the Elmira City School District
for over 25 years, I continue to teach photography (employing both
digital manipulation as well as traditional darkroom techniques) at
Elmira Free Academy.
I reside with my husband Peter and our pets, Java and Sootie, in
the country outside of Corning, New York on a little piece of
heaven we call Sanctuary. I am an avid bird watcher and enjoy a
warm breeze on a cool spring evening.
Artist Statement:
I love most anything that is black and white. Anyone who knows
me can attest to this. So it seems very natural for me to use a
camera and seek out unique shapes, patterns and textures around me.
I believe in simplicity. I enjoy art that intrigues me and pulls me
into it. Don't just settle for what is in the image but look deeper
for that which is not obvious.
