HEAVENLY STARS   48" x 48"   WSKG PRICE: $200

Susan LaFever

Barn Quilt Artist

Sherburne, NY

"Heavenly Stars" is a variation of the historic Carpenter's Star quilt pattern. My father worked a second job as a carpenter building houses to pay for his children's college education.  Our family spent many hours together working on the houses, and painting walls both inside and outside the houses.  This quilt square is dedicated to the memory of my father for the love, caring and guidance he provided to our family.

Artistic Statement:

My family is from Ohio, where there are several Barn Quilt Trails.  I visit family every year, and often view the beautiful barn quilts along my travels.  These barn quilts reminded me of home, and I recently became interested in creating the same feeling of home in central New York. I have created barn quilts for our hay and horse barns, as well as for our cabin. We have barn quilts in a variety of sizes, from signs 22 inch squares to 8 x8 foot squares. My barn quilts are sealed with a Golden Artist Colors finish for durability. I am currently involved in the Chenango County Barn Quilt Project.  My e-mail is lafever@frontiernet.net.
