Volunteer
Co-Chair for Mr. Rogers’
Neighborhood Sweater
Drive Needed
The WSKG EDUCATION department is looking for two volunteers
to assist with the planning and implementation of the 2008
Sweater Drive. The co-chair position would focus on coordinating
activities with organizations that participate in the collection
and distribution of sweaters.
Fred
Roger’s cardigan sweater has come to represent
the gentle spirit, warmth and nurturing of the sweater drive.
Through the drive you will have the opportunity to instill “good
feelings” of being a caring neighbor in our community.
Our goal is to collect sweaters for children, adults and
at risk families who cannot afford something warm to wear.
With the help of many volunteers, last year WSKG collected
and distributed 1,250 sweaters.
The
responsibilities for the volunteer co-chair position
include: attend one planning meeting each month in July,
August, September, and October; send invitation letters to
collection sites to confirm participation in the sweater
drive; deliver sweater drive posters to collection sites
and confirm that barrels are set-up and ready for the drive;
ensure that all sweaters are collected from the barrels and
delivered to WSKG; contact distribution sites to determine
the number of sweaters needed; and deliver thank you gifts
and letters to collection sites.
