The city of Geneva, New York is filled with melodies and harmonies as the 2024 Geneva Music Festival is in full swing. This year’s festival includes 24 artists performing in different venues across multiple weekends.The festival features chamber music from groups like the Brentano String Quartetand solo artists like Nina Lee and Josh Newburger.
Geoffrey Herd is not only one the director for the Geneva Music Festival, he’s also one of the performers. He says it’s a balancing act throughout the year. “It's kind of a lifestyle, you're just always on the go. So I am looking forward to when the festival is over. I get a little bit of downtime and just grow my vegetables and relax for a few weeks.”
Attendees to past festivals can also look forward to hearing their favorite acts perform multiple times.
“We don't change out our musicians every year like some festivals do,” said Herd. “We really hope that our musicians will return. We try to build this family atmosphere, both among the musicians and between our musicians and the community. “
The 2024 festival runs from May 18th through June 9th at various venues around the city of Geneva, New York.
