Alicia Olatuja's Repertoire Spans Soul, Gospel, and Jazz

The Cornell Concert Series presents vocalist Alicia Olatuja on Saturday, February 10 in Bailey Hall. She had a chance to record an interview last month before her concert tour of China.

"Praised by The New York Times as “a singer with a strong and lustrous tone and an amiably regal presence on stage,” Alicia Olatuja astounds audiences with her exquisite vocals, artistic versatility, and captivating demeanor. She came into the national spotlight in 2013 performing as the featured soloist with the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir at President Barack Obama’s Second Inauguration. “Olatuja possesses a special instrument,” Downbeat raves, “a full-bodied tone, precise pitch and personal engagement at the lowest whisper or highest wail.” She blends her classical training with gospel, soul, and jazz, as Olatuja and her band make their Ithaca debut."
