  1. Over here in the nearby FingerLakes we had a wonderfully successful full-house standing room only debut of one of my new touring “Mozart and Glass” programs featuring my Benjamin Franklin designed glass Armonica – this with full chorus plus orchestra performing Mozart’s 1789 re-arrangement of Handel’s “MESSIAH” with expanded orchestration. We followed the late 18th c. practice of utilizing the famous 1761 glass instrument together with harpsichord and cello making up the period-authentic continuo accompaniment unit throughout the Part One- Christmas section of the Mozart’s MESSIAH edition.

To open this annual MESSIAH holiday program introducing the unusual sounds of rim-rubbed glass, we featured the Armonica in solo accompaniment to 8 selected chorus singers performing the ethereal Mozart ‘TE DEUM’, followed by the glass-led continuo unit (without the usual strings) as accompaniment to the lovely Mozart ‘AVE VERUM’ as well. For a Christmas followup novelty feature, variety program 2nd half we included my audience-distributed individual glasses segment: teaching eager participant to play 35 individually hand-held water-tuned goblets forming a spontaneous choir-ensemble of vitreous virtuosity to accompanying various Xmas carols and available for a sparkling addition to themes selected from Mozart’s THE MAGIC FLUTE).
