CORNING, NY (WSKG) - The City of Corning recently passed its 2021 budget with a shortfall of $300,000. The deficit is pending action by the federal government on a new coronavirus relief package.
TOMPKINS COUNTY, NY (WSKG) - Anna Kelles has declared victory in the crowded Democratic primary race in the 125th Assembly district. Kelles leads the six other candidates vying to become the Democratic nominee with all ballots counted.
TOMPKINS COUNTY, NY (WSKG) - Tompkins County District Attorney Matthew Van Houten has claimed a re-election victory in a close primary against challenger, Ithaca attorney Ed Kopko. The Tompkins County Board of Elections received about 9,000 mail-in votes.
ALBANY, NY (WSKG) - A coalition of government reform groups say the New York state legislature should consider limiting some of Governor Andrew Cuomo’s emergency powers gained during the pandemic, and return, at least remotely, to meeting in session to set policy for New York. In early March, as the coronavirus rapidly gained ground in New York, the legislature granted Governor Cuomo special emergency powers to temporarily suspend laws or create new ones to fight the pandemic.
Travelers from three more states will now be required to quarantine themselves for two weeks when they enter New York, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Tuesday, meaning that visitors from more than a third of the country will now be subject to the mandate.
