(Change) Innocence Project: The Central Park Five
Wednesday 2/8 we will hear from a man who was also falsely convicted and a representative from the Innocence Project.
Police shot Termaine Hicks as he was helping a victim. After they covered it up, he was wrongly convicted of attacking her. Mr. Hicks was exonerated after the Philadelphia Conviction Integrity Unit (CIU), led by Patricia Cummings, joined the Innocence Project’s motion to vacate his conviction. He served 19 years in prison for a crime he did not commit.
Gabriel Lopez joined the innocence project as a Case Analyst in May 2018. Prior to working at the innocence project, Gabriel worked as an intake paralegal at Brooklyn Legal Services in the Tenant Rights Coalition unit. He earned his B.A. in Psychology from Hunter College and is currently seeking his Master’s Degree in Forensic Psychology at John Jay College at the City University of New York.
