Red Dragon Reading Series Presents Calvin Wales
Calvin Walds is a writer, educator, and sound and image-maker from Detroit, Michigan. He is a Ph.D. student in
Geography at Rutgers-New Brunswick and holds an MFA in Cross-Genre Writing (focus on poetics) from UCSD.
Current research and writing projects explore dispossession and place-making in black and West African urban
geographies and sound studies, particularly thinking about African diasporic spaces of experimental and
electronic music, sound art, and field recordings and fugitivity as a practice of resistance.
