Kenneth Haas, local bird enthusiast and nature photographer will display his photos at the Newfield Public Library during the month of April. Ken strives to help others appreciate the beauty of birds through his photography, and to instill a sense of urgency for their protection and conservation of their habitat. In addition to photography, Ken also co-leads bird walks at Sapsucker Woods in Ithaca and for a Pennsylvania chapter of the Sierra Club. Join us for an artist reception Saturday, April 19th from 10:30 AM - 1:30 PM.

On Thursday, April 24, Senator Lea Webb, Assemblymember Anna Kelles, PULP and other partners will host a workshop to help directly impacted utility customers check eligibility for a variety of financial assistance programs including New York State Electric and Gas’s (“NYSEG”) Energy Affordability Program monthly bill discount, the Home Energy Assistance Program (“HEAP”), energy efficiency programs, and more.
Trained advocates from PULP and other agencies will help area residents check their utility bill to see if they’re enrolled in their utility’s low-income monthly bill discount program known as the Energy Affordability Program (“EAP”), programs to improve home insulation, and to answer other utility related questions.Participants are encouraged to come prepared with their utility bill, a valid form of identification, and if available, a copy of their current benefits award letter from public assistance programs like HEAP, SNAP, or SSI, to facilitate the assistance process.
Pushing the boundaries of modern techniques while honoring traditional performance practices, the contemporary chamber music group Sydeboob Duo (Anna Elder, soprano, and Sarah Steranka, flute) performs a program of new music. The concert will feature new compositions by members of Binghamton University's Composition Studio, as well as works by Neva Derewetzky (M.M. '23), Rebecca Saunders, Anthony Braxton, Ramin Akhavijou, and Beat Furrer. Free Admission

The Quilt Guild will exhibit four hundred quilts. Cathleen Wiggs will do daily historical presentations of quilts and quilting. Demonstrations will be available every day. There will be a one of a kind raffle quilt and many raffle baskets. Parking is free only a few steps from the quilt show entrance. Admission is free for age 12 and under.
Please join the Office of New York State Senator Lea Webb for “Community Office Hours” on April 25, 2025 from 11 PM - 1 PM at the Southworth Public Library in Dryden. Senator Webb’s constituent services team will be on hand to assist the community with issues they are experiencing, including unemployment, housing, healthcare, utility bills, EBT/WIC/SNAP, and more.
