ALBANY, NY (WSKG) - Gov. Andrew Cuomo, who’s facing allegations of sexual harassment from multiple women, said Thursday that he’s eager to tell his side of the story, but is refraining from doing so out of respect for two ongoing investigations into his alleged behavior.
Cuomo, speaking to reporters in Buffalo, said it’s been “very difficult letting people make accusations and not responding.” The alleged incidents include inappropriate comments, unwelcome kisses and in one instance, groping under a woman’s shirt.
“The complainants have continued to go to the press and make their complaints in the press, and I have not been able to respond,” Cuomo said. “That’s not fair and that’s not right.”
Cuomo has denied he sexually harassed anyone or intentionally tried to make anyone uncomfortable, and his attorney has refuted some of the specific allegations.
There is no legal reason why Cuomo can’t offer his own detailed account of the alleged incidents, but the governor says he is holding off while the investigations by the state’s attorney general and an Assembly impeachment inquiry are continuing.
“I can’t tell you how eager I am to tell my side of the story,” Cuomo said. “The time will come.”
Cuomo ended the news conference without saying when he might offer his side of the story.
