Delhi Clerk Arraigned - spot
VESTAL, NY (WSKG) - Village of Delhi Mayor Rich Maxey is disappointed that a former village clerk allegedly stole funds from the village.
Michele Barnes was arraigned this week in Delhi Town Court.
She is accused of stealing $4,788 from the village by making checks out to herself between December 2017 and October 2018.
Maxey said it's not a lot of money but it still matters to his village. "Especially a small one and we’re getting by and we’re disappointed over the situation," he added. "But we’re moving forward.”
Maxey and other officials found out about Barnes alleged actions after an audit by the state comptroller’s office. She faces a felony larceny charge and is due back in court on November 19th.
