  • Assembly Impeachment Inquiry Leader Gives Update On Cuomo Investigations

    ALBANY, NY (WSKG) - The leader of the New York State Assembly’s impeachment inquiry gave a brief update Wednesday regarding several investigations into Gov. Andrew Cuomo. Judiciary Committee Chair Charles Lavine said a hotline set up by the committee has generated over 200 tips on probes into sexual harassment allegations made by multiple women; whether Cuomo illegally used staff to help him write and promote a memoir; and if his family and friends got preferential access to coronavirus tests when they were hard to get earlier in the pandemic.

  • Supporters, Opponents Of HERO Act Await Action By Cuomo

    ALBANY, NY (WSKG) - Supporters of a measure to ensure better workplace safety during future pandemics are urging Gov. Andrew Cuomo to sign the bill, which was passed by both houses of the state Legislature this week. The bill -- known as the New York Health and Essential Rights, or HERO, Act -- requires that the state health and labor departments design minimum standards for health and safety during outbreaks of airborne viruses and all infectious disease outbreaks.

  • Pennsylvania’s Governor Gets First COVID-19 Vaccine Dose

    (Harrisburg) –– Gov. Tom Wolf received a first dose of the Moderna vaccine at a community health center in York Monday morning. He joins more than four million Pennsylvanians who have gotten a first dose since the state began vaccinating people against the coronavirus in December.

  • Democrats Seek To Build On Recent Criminal Justice Changes

    NEW YORK NOW - Democrats in the state Legislature pushed Wednesday for the passage of what’s called the Justice Roadmap, a series of measures aimed at changing the racial outcomes of the criminal justice system. Those measures include expanded parole options for older incarcerated people and legislation that would automatically expunge records for people who have completed their sentence after a certain amount of time.

  • Should Albany Hold New Hearings On Ethics Reform? These Groups Say Yes

    NEW YORK NOW - Advocates for stronger public ethics laws in New York state government called on Democrats Wednesday to hold hearings on how those rules could be improved, and whether the current agency that investigates claims of misconduct should be replaced. In a letter sent to members of the state Legislature, several good government groups asked lawmakers to consider if the state’s current ethics enforcement agencies are effective.
