A Midsummer Night’s Dream ballet
March 30 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm$10 – $20
A Midsummer Night’s Dream ballet, with music by Felix Mendelssohn and choreography by Lavinia Reid is based on William Shakespeare’s comedy about the romantic adventures and blunders, magical shenanigans, squabbles and gettings back together, of two pairs of mortal lovers and the king and queen of the fairies. It delightfully interblends reality and illusion, change and constancy, silliness and depth, to display love in many guises from sublime to ridiculous, unrequited, seemingly star-crossed, and reconciled.
Titania and Oberon (Queen and King of the Fairies) will be danced by guest alumni
Samantha (Sprague) Iddings and Kevin Olmstead. Principal Dancers Ayla Naghsh and Maria Valencia dance the roles of Hermia and Helena. Demetrius will be danced by special guest dancer Xavier Nunez, a company dancer with Joffrey Ballet in Chicago. Johann Studier is dancing the role of Bottom and guest dancer Tucker Davis is Lysander (human lover).
Additional shorter ballets Stratus and Jupiter complete the afternoon and evening with celestial magic.
