Authentically Rural Weekend Opening Reception

Celebrate Tompkins County’s rural heritage on the Authentically Rural Weekend, October 5-7, 2018. The opening wine-and-appetizer reception at the Brian C. Nevin Welcome Center at the Cornell Botanic Gardens on Friday, October 5, kicks off the weekend.

Sachem Sam George, condoled a Bear Clan Sachem (chief) in 2005, gives the Haudenosaunee Thanksgiving Address to lead off the weekend celebrating Tompkins County’s rural heritage.
Martha Robertson, Chairperson, Tompkins County Legislature, welcomes visitors to the county.
Professor Scott Peters of Cornell’s Development Sociology department discusses enduring rural cultures and heritage that provide a foundation for rural revitalization.
