Cantata Singers Present Choral Works of Celebrated Local Composer

Dan Forrest, born in Breesport, NY, in 1978, is counted among the greatest choral composers of our time.
The Cantata Singers will present a concert entitled “The Music of Breesport Native Dan Forrest” on Sunday, March 4, at The Church of the Redeemer in Sayre, PA, at 3 p.m. The performance is free and open to the public.
Dan Forrest began his musical education locally. studying piano with Frances McLaren, who is currently the accompanist for the Cantata Singers. Forrest is a graduate of the Twin Tiers Christian School. He earned a bachelor’s degree in music as well as a master’s degree of music in piano performance from Bob Jones University, and a doctoral degree in composition from the University of Kansas.
Forrest’s compositions include choral, instrumental, and orchestral works. His choral works have received the ASCAP Morton Guild Young Composer’s Award, among many others, and have been performed in leading venues such as Carnegie Hall and the Lincoln Center, and on NPR’s Performance Today.
