Hibernian St. Patrick’s Day Parade
March 7 @ 11:30 am - 6:00 pm
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
My name is John Walker and I am responsible for media of the Hibernian Parade Committee. The Hibernian Parade Committee Inc. is made up of members of the Local Ancient Order of Hibernians, (AOH). This year we are celebrating our 53rd anniversary of the annual Binghamton St. Patrick’s Parade.
The 53rd annual St. Patrick’s Parade will be held March 7, 2020 sponsored by the Hibernian Parade Committee. The Parade will feature Pipe bands, floats, community organizations and local dignitaries. Bands from New York and Pennsylvania will perform. Once again the Avalon String Band will be on hand. Following the parade our annual celebration will be held at Seton Catholic High School, from 1 to 6pm with live performances, food and beverage and dancing! Tickets are $5.00 at the door.
The Parade Committee is a not for profit service organization. We along with our brothers and sisters of the AOH donate thousands of dollars to local charities each year.
Our yearly celebration is one of the area’s premier events that bring in thousands of dollars to the local economy the first weekend in March each year!
Our celebration starts on Saturday February 22, 2020 with the Irish Heritage dinner dance at the Holiday Inn Arena. It is a time to honor and publicly announce our parade’s Grand Marshall, Maid of Erin and Official parade Starter. Also, we give our annual Service Award to a community member or organization that gives back to the community.
The following Saturday, February 29, 2020 from 11 to 3 pm. is our annual “Irish Day”. This year the celebration will be held at St. Thomas School, 1 Aquinas St. Binghamton, NY. Fun and entertainment including: The Edward P. Maloney Pipe Band , and Irish Dancers. Starting at 1pm Shambles will provide Music. Traditional Irish food and vendors will be on hand.
Parade Day, Saturday, March 7, 2020, starts with our annual Mass celebration honoring the Glorious Apostle of Ireland, St. Patrick, and the deceased members of our organization. It is held at St. Mary’s of the Assumption Church on Court Street at 11:30 am. Following the Mass, our annual parade kicks off at 1:30pm. The parade is one of the largest non sponsored parades in the country, meaning we have never had corporate sponsorship. The parade goes down Court Street and ends up at Edwards St. on Binghamton’s West Side.
Following the parade our celebration continues at Seton High Catholic High School on Seminary Ave. from 1 to 6pm. Most of the parades’ Pipe Bands perform, and the huge finale by the Avalon String Band sends everyone home happy. The admission price of $5.00 at the door goes to offset the cost of the parade.
Finally, on March 15th , 2020 the AOH men will hold their annual Pancake Breakfast at the Hibernian Hall at 148 Main Street, Binghamton. Pancakes, sausage, home fries, French (Irish) toast, eggs, Irish Soda Bread, and Irish Oatmeal will be served. Donation is $8.00 at the door.
Please feel free to contact me at your earliest convenience if you have any questions.
