Our Backyard: A Conversation on Conservation
July 18 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
An event every week that begins at 1:00 pm on Saturday, repeating until July 25, 2020
On display will be photographs of our local natural environment by George Allen, a Vestal Resident and photographer. The exhibition highlights how to practice conservation in our backyards, open areas, and public spaces. As we shelter in place locally we can all appreciate the beauty of this area.
Exhibits from local agencies will be set up outside the museum and programs for children under the age of 12 will be provided. George Allen will be giving a talk paired with an activity for children under 12 at 1PM on July 11th, 18th, and 25th. One program, “Don’t Squooosh the Spider”, will emphasize the value of spiders….in our houses and outside. This particular program will challenge young Vestal residents to find 12 spiders in or around the museum.
The exhibition will also address native plants and birds and the problems caused by lawn pesticide use.
To ensure the safety of our visitors and cooperation with social distancing, the Vestal Museum will be allowing 5 guests at a time inside for the exhibit and ask that masks be worn at all times.
