Southern Tier Genealogical Society

June 6 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Free

The Southern Tier Genealogical Society meets on the 1st Thursday of the month (April through October). Our speaker on June 6th 2019 is Roger Luther. His presentation is titled “Windows into the Past”. Broome County Historian & Castle Historian Roger Luther describes the discovery and multi-year project to document, preserve and restore images from thousands of glass plate negatives discovered in the historic Binghamton Asylum, now known as the “Castle on the Hill.” These images of buildings, staff, and patients of the State Hospital were hidden for over a century, and very nearly lost forever. Our meetings are held at the Vestal Public Library in the large conference room. The meetings run from 7-9 PM and are free to the public.
