You’ve Always Been There for Me: Understanding the Lives of Grandchildren Raised by Grandparents

February 8 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Free

In a Chats in the Stacks book talk, Rachel E. Dunifon, the interim dean of the College of Human Ecology and a professor of policy analysis and management, will present her new book, You’ve Always Been There for Me: Understanding the Lives of Grandchildren Raised by Grandparents, where she examines an understudied family type raising nearly two million American children. Using data gathered in New York, Dunifon analyzes the unique strengths of grandfamilies and the distinct challenges they face, from financial and health issues to a lack of recognition from social services. She also offers researchers, service providers, policy makers, and the general public insight on how to promote their well-being.

This book talk is supported by the Mary A. Morrison Public Education Fund for Mann Library. Light refreshments will be served.
