This week marks ten years since flood waters from Tropical Storm Lee left residents in Owego displaced, without electricy, and scrambling to save their homes. WSKG is sharing some of their stories.

In the wake of the September floods in our region, WSKG organized a Flood Relief Telethon with commercial radio and television stations resulting in a monumental effort. Together, our community helped raise over $250,000 in a single day. We are grateful to everyone who helped during this tragedy.

"I’ve toured the plant, there’s a huge wall there and they say it’s ready for a thousand year flood. So I’m pretty confident. There’s redundant systems, things are behind concrete walls. So there may be minor destruction but nothing like happened on September 2011."
