Getting Lost in "The Great Pause" Online Discussion

Getting Lost in "The Great Pause" Online Discussion

This event took place on Thursday April 30 at 7pm. Watch a recording of the event below.

We’re experiencing the coronavirus outbreak as one, yet we all have different coping styles. Are you focused on logistics? Struggling to stay motivated in a strangely isolated world? Are you unable to concentrate? Or confused about your sudden jumble of new roles?

In this time of unprecedented uncertainty, we must see our way through as a nation, a region, a household, and as individuals. What are we losing –– and what might we gain –– even in a time of considerable grief?

Join WSKG and Science Pub BING for an online presentation and lively Q&A with professor and counselor Tara Moyle who will present a human-centered view of the pandemic.

Tara is a teacher, professor, and writer who completes her counselor training this spring. Viewing artists as potential healers, and healing as an art, she seeks to combine her literary expertise to help mend the collective psyche.

In the humanities, Tara learned to ask, “What does it mean to be a human being?” and in the clinical setting to ask, “How can I foster growth in this human being?” Working in the medical humanities field, Tara plans to incorporate these complementary perspectives into her practice, including narrative therapy, existential theory, play therapy, and short-term, solution-focused strategies.

Tara holds a BA in English from Northern Illinois University, an MFA in Creative Writing from Virginia Commonwealth University, a Certificate of Licensure from the Chicago School of Massage Therapy, and a Master’s of Professional Mental Health Counseling (May 2020) from William Paterson University. She teaches at William Paterson University and the Adult School of Montclair in New Jersey.
