The City of Auburn is located at the northern end of Owasco Lake. Originally known as Hardenbergh’s Corners, it was settled in 1793, and named after its founder John Hardenbergh, a veteran of the Sullivan-Clinton campaign. The settlement was renamed Auburn in 1805, and within ten years had grown to be the largest village in Central and Western New York.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J4swdb9BEY4Funding provided by a grant from Empire State Development.
