Built in 1833, an imposing red brick Greek revival structure on Lake Street in Elmira, now houses a world-class art collection.
In 1913, Matthias Arnot, a local banker, bequeathed the building and his collection of 17th and 19th century paintings and sculptures to the city. Over the years the Arnot Art Museum has grown to include many modern pieces of art, and the museum hosts an ever-changing series of exhibits and education programs that attract a variety of audiences of all ages.
Whether you’re a young student or a more seasoned art enthusiast, the beauty of the European masters are on display at the Arnot Art Museum, another inspiring stop on New York’s Path Through History.
