Kodak Manufactures Isopropyl Alcohol For New York State

ROCHESTER, NY (WXXI) - A lot of New York companies and organizations are stepping up to help out during the coronavirus pandemic, and that includes Kodak.  The company says it has entered into an agreement with New York state to supply isopropyl alcohol to help with the production of hand sanitizer that the state is making.

Governor Andrew Cuomo announced in early March that  the state is manufacturing its own hand sanitizer to deal with the shortage of the disinfectant product.

That hand sanitizer is being made available to state residents for free and distributed to communities particularly hard hit by the virus.

Kodak has shipped  40,000 gallons of the isopropyl alcohol over the last week, shipping it in tanker loads  from its Eastman Business Park facility. The company plans to continue to supply the state with the alcohol until they’re told otherwise.

Kodak Executive Chairman Jim Continenza says that the company is committed to helping fight the spread of COVID-19.

“I could not be prouder of our dedicated team members who quickly mobilized to provide this essential ingredient for hand sanitizer. We will continue to work closely with New York and federal representatives to identify other ways to bring Kodak’s resources and technology to bear in the fight against this pandemic,” Continenza said in a statement released this week.
