Learning about the Summer Solstice

What is the summer solstice and how can I share this with my child? The summer solstice will take place June 20, 2016 at approximately 6:34pm EDT, in the Southern Tier of New York. This marks the longest length of daylight in the Northern Hemisphere.

Check out this video from PBS Learning Media and share with your K-5th grade child explaining how the earth revolves around the sun on it’s axis, creating the seasons and solstice.
