CANTON, NY (NCPR) – Gov. Andrew Cuomo is soliciting bids for large-scale renewable energy projects as part of his administration’s aggressive plan to combat climate change. Lt. Gov. Kathy Hochul tweeted it is “the largest ever combined solicitations for renewable energy ever issued in the U.S.”
He said these projects could generate enough power for half-a-million homes in New York and help the state’s economic recovery during the pandemic.
The governor signed the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act last year, which sets a goal of reducing the state’s greenhouse gas emissions by 40% by 2030 and 85% by 2050.
