Faso, Delgado Both Positive About NY-19 Siena Poll

VESTAL, NY (WSKG) — Major party candidates in New York’s 19th congressional district both say a recent Siena College Poll is good news for them.

That district covers the Hudson Valley and Capital regions and includes Delaware and Otsego counties, and part of Broome county.

Congressman John Faso’s campaign said they’re pleased with the Republican's 45-40 lead over Democratic challenger Antonio Delgado. In a statement, Faso’s campaign said the numbers show voters are happy with the congressman’s performance.

In some ways, the numbers are good for Faso. He leads among men and is ahead in Broome, Delaware, and Otsego counties, as well as around the capital region. He also holds a lead among independents.

What the numbers also show is that Faso has a negative favorability rating.

His opponent, Delgado, has a positive favorability and has a majority of the support among women. The Democrat’s numbers are better around Ulster and Dutchess counties.

On Twitter, Delgado referred to Faso’s lead as “minor” and criticized Faso for only being able to hold a five-point edge with ten weeks until election day.

The poll did not ask about Green Party candidate Steve Greenfield
