Federal Farm Agency Reopens Temporarily

ITHACA, NY (WSKG) - Beginning January 26, Farm Service Agency offices across New York and Pennsylvania will reopen. Nationwide, the USDA is recalling almost 10,000 workers to help farmers affected by the partial federal shutdown.

The USDA also announced that some program application deadlines will be extended.

"It’ll help,"  said David Fisher, a dairy farmer and president of the New York Farm Bureau Board, "with trade mitigation assistance, conservation contracts, dairy margin protection, and other things."

FSA offices will be opened full-time for two weeks only. After that offices will be opened three days a week, as needed.
