ITHACA, NY (WSKG) - It’s been almost three years since drinking water was shut off in all schools in the Ithaca City School District. Today, the water’s scheduled to be back on in some elementary schools.
Students will be able to drink the water in most elementary schools in the Ithaca district.
Water was shut off in 2015 after tests showed elevated lead levels in several schools. The administration has replaced all water fountains and faucets in the elementary school.
Students and staff have been drinking bottled water provided by the district while fixtures are being replaced.
Water will remain off at other schools. The district is working on the fixtures in all middle and high schools.
