ITHACA, NY (WSKG) - Ithaca’s City Hall is back to normal today. Earlier this week, there were not enough security guards to stay opened their regular hours.
On Monday, City Hall was closed to the public for a few hours and a meeting had to be relocated Tuesday night. Julie Holcomb, the City Clerk, said they only learned they would be short a security guard on Monday morning and had to make a quick decision.
Everything was back to normal Wednesday. Holcomb said City Hall has never had to close for this reason since they implemented the security ten years ago.
"I believe that the City will be meeting with the contractor to make sure this doesn’t happen again," said Holcomb.
She said whether the City needs more security people will be part discussions when it’s time to renegotiate the contract.
