Woodstock 50 Organizers Sue Former Financial Partner

VESTAL, NY (WSKG) - The fight over Woodstock 50 is heading to court.

Festival organizers are suing their former financial partner Dentsu Aegis Network. Organizers say the company is sabotaging the concert which was scheduled forWatkins Glen this August. It was to feature artists like Chance The Rapper, Dead and Company and The Killers.

Dentsu pulled funding for the project in late April. The group says it was concerned about safety and whether it would live up to the Woodstock name. This came after ticket sales for the festival were delayed. Reports claim organizers failed to get a proper permit from the New York Department of Health.

Since then the two sides have argued over the $18-million removed by Dentsu from the festival bank account. Investors say it's company money and it can do that.

The lawsuit seeks a return of the money to that account and would prevent Dentsu officials from speaking with the media, performers or others about the festival.

Through all this, organizer Michael Lang has maintained Woodstock 50 will go on. After Dentsu pulled funding, he wrote on his Facebook page that it will happen and "[..]be a blast."
