GOP Celebrates After PA-12 Congressional Victory

VESTAL, NY (WSKG) - Republican Fred Keller has won the special election for Congress in Pennsylvania’s 12th district. The district sprawls across central and northern Pennsylvania and includes Bradford, Susquehanna, Tioga and Wyoming Counties.

Keller is being congratulated by GOP leaders in Washington.

"Great news for Republicans: Fred Keller has just won the hard fought for Pennsylvania Congressional contest in a LANDSLIDE, over 70% of the vote," President Trump tweeted Tuesday night. Keller actually finished with about 68% of the vote, according to the Associated Press.

Republican Whip Steve Scalise and the RNC chairwoman Ronna McDaniel also tweeted congratulations to Keller for his victory.

For his part, Keller tweeted thanks to his supporters in the heavily Republican district. "This is the beginning of us working together to address the issues that will positively impact every family across #PA12," he said.

Keller received over the twice votes as Democrat Marc Friedenberg and replaces fellow Republican Tom Marino, who resigned in January.

The Republican was one of the more conservative members in the Pennsylvania house. He has a 90 percent lifetime rating by the American Conservative Union.
