VESTAL, NY (WSKG) - After plans to hold Woodstock 50 in Watkins Glen were cancelled, a smaller music festival might still be held at a harness track and casino in central New York.
Vernon Town Supervisor Randy Watson told the Poughkeepsie Journal that Woodstock 50 has applied to hold the concert there August 16-18. That's the same time that was publicized for the aborted concert in Watkins Glen.
No more than 50,ooo people could attend the concert at Vernon Downs. That’s a much smaller attendance than the 150,000 originally planned for Watkins Glen International.
The race track pulled out of Woodstock 50 earlier this month after festival organizers reportedly missed a payment. This came after a myriad of issues for organizers, including a delay in ticket sales and the loss of a financial backer.
