VESTAL, NY (WSKG) — A challenger has entered the 2020 race for New York's 19th Congressional District.
The Oneonta Daily star reported, Anthony German will run on the Republican line.
German is a retired two-star general in the National Guard.
"He believes our political system is broken and dysfunctional, and feels called to do his part to repair it and provide the 19th district with a better voice in Congress," his campaign's website said.
To do that, German would have to unseat Democrat Antonio Delgado.
Delgado took the seat earlier this year, after ousting one-term Republican John Faso in the November 2018 election.
The 19th congressional district reaches to 11 counties in the Hudson Valley and Southern Tier —including Delaware, Otsego and part of Broome.
