ROMULUS, NY (WSKG) - For over a year the town of Romulus, in Seneca Countym has opposed a proposed trash incinerator being built on the former Seneca Army Depot. That project is not going to happen.
But, at a public hearing on Wednesday night, people were mostly positive about a new industrial project by a different company.
The proposal is for a welding and milling facility for dairy farming equipment.
Some people said they trusted the owner of the company, Earl Martin. Others spoke of the potential jobs that would be created.
Seneca Dairy Systems makes dairy farm equipment like animal housings and ventilations systems, said owner Earl Martin.
"Farmers are increasingly paying more and more attention to the animal welfare and we’re a big part of the success of that," Martin said.
He added animal comfort systems are a growing industry internationally.
The town has to wait for the completion of state environmental review before it can make any determinations about the project.
