VESTAL, NY (WSKG) - Wegmans prefers if customers do not carry guns in its stores.
"The sight of someone with a gun can be alarming, and we don’t want anyone to feel that way at Wegmans," the grocery chain wrote on Twitter on Thursday. "For this reason, we prefer that customers not openly carry firearms into our stores."
The statement comes after national chains announced this week they’re introducing tougher gun policies. That includes Walmart which is also asking people not to carry guns in stores, in the wake of shootings at two of its stores this summer.
