VESTAL, NY (WSKG) — New York 19th District Congressman Antonio Delgado will have some say on next year’s spending plan for the Department of Defense.
Delgado had been appointed to the committee that will negotiate differences in the House and Senate versions of the 2020 National Defense Authorization Act. That funds the Defense department, but, often items are tacked on that are tangential to national defense.
For example, part of this bill would send money to places like Broome County, where the overdose-drug fentanyl has been tied to several deaths.
“I am committed to working with both sides of the aisle to support our men and women in uniform who sacrifice every day to protect our nation, and I will use this position to advocate for our upstate New York veterans and national security interests,” Delgado said in a press release.
Delgado represents New York’s 19th congressional district which includes Otsego, Delaware and part of Broome County.
