VESTAL, NY (WSKG) - New York 23rd District Congressman Tom Reed is out of the hospital after collapsing at the capitol rotunda on Thursday.
In a statement, Reed said he had a previously-undiagnosed case of pneumonia. He was released on Thursday after being evaluated by doctors and plans to return to work on Monday.
"Thank you to everyone for their thoughts and prayers," Reed said in a statement.*
According to Samantha-Jo Roth, a television reporter covering congress for stations in Florida and New York City, Reed was about to do a television appearance when he collapsed and was unconscious for about 30 seconds.
She posted the incident to Twitter.
The Republican has served in Congress since 2013. New York's 23rd District covers the Southern Tier and Finger Lakes, including Ithaca, Elmira and Hornell.
