VESTAL, NY (WSKG) — New York 19th District Congressman Antonio Delgado is hosting a congressional field hearing on rural New York broadband needs on Friday afternoon.
A field hearing is the same as any Congressional hearing, but not in Washington D.C. This one will be held at the Columbia-Greene Community College in Hudson at 1:00 P.M.
Delgado said it will allow people in rural communities to share their experiences living without high-speed internet with a representative from the FCC, the agency responsible for broadband. Other community stakeholders are also invited to speak.
The hearing is expected to cover how internet access affects students, small businesses and rural hospitals.
New York's 19th District covers part of the Southern Tier and Hudson Valley and includes Otsego, Delaware and part of Broome County.
