ROCHESTER, NY (WXXI) - If you are a Spectrum customer, you may see some prices going up in your next bill. The company is raising the price on some of its TV packages. For instance, the Spectrum TV Gold will increase by $7.50.
The company is raising the price of its standard internet service by $4; the broadcast TV surcharge will increase $1.51 and the receiver (the cable box) is going up by 49 cents per receiver.
Spectrum says there won’t be a change for most internet customers, since that $4 increase does not impact them if they have Spectrum TV Select or above.
Spectrum spokeswoman Lara Pritchard released this statement:
“The Broadcast TV Surcharge reflects the continually and rapidly rising cost of local broadcast channels. For TV, this is the first change in the package price of our new Spectrum TV Select, Silver and gold plans since we began introducing them in late 2016, and reflects the rising cost of cable programming over the past three years. Our services are competitively priced and we provide our customers with superior products at a great value.”
For Spectrum customers whose package price is part of a promotion, the new package price won’t take effect until after their promotional period ends. Customers should refer to the monthly statement for more information.
