ITHACA, NY (WSKG) - Democratic Congressman Adam Schiff said the Trump Administration’s efforts to block subpoenas and witnesses in the impeachment inquiry are unprecedented.
Schiff, who chairs the House Intelligence Committee, was at Cornell University as part of a series called ‘Inside Congress’ for political science students. Cornell did not allow journalists to ask questions.
The California Democrat said the House is already planning to make changes so that congressional subpoenas will be obeyed.
"So that we never get into a situation again with an administration that thinks it can play Rope-A-Dope with the Congress and draw out endlessly through litigation whether it must comply with the law and the Constitution."
Schiff says courts have consistently upheld congressional oversight authority.
