ITHACA, NY (WSKG) - New York 23rd District Congressman Tom Reed, a Republican, was one of the members of Congress who voted against a House resolution condemning the President’s decision to pull American troops out of Syria.
The House voted 354 to 60 to oppose the president’s decision. The resolution is non-binding.
Reed described those who voted against the president as showing political cowardice that was appalling.
"Members of Congress are not doing their job in regards to authorizing the use of military force in these areas around the world like Syria," Reed said.
He clarified that he was indeed referring to both Republicans and Democrats who had voted for the resolution.
Asked about the president’s decision to move more troops into Saudia Arabia, Reed said that Saudi Arabia is not a hostile area and so that is not the same situation.
Reed's district includes Ithaca, Elmira and Bath.
