VESTAL, NY (WSKG) - Elmira businessman Randy Reid announced he will seek the Democratic nomination for the New York Assembly's 124th District seat.
It's currently held by Republican Chris Friend. The district covers Tioga and parts of Chemung and Broome Counties, including the City of Elmira.
“I will be that voice in Albany for Main St," Reid said in a statement. "Reducing small business taxes, opening up access to capital and working to ensure proposed legislation will not stifle growth. I would look to make childcare affordable and available for working families across the state."
Reid also ran for the assembly seat in 2018, but lost the Democratic Primary. He has served on the Elmira City School District Board of Education since 2012. He owns a media consulting group for area non-profits, and works at Capabilities in Elmira.
He previously worked as General Manager for WETM-TV in Elmira and spent time at WENY-TV and WBNG-TV.
A representative from Friend's office said the Assemblyman would not have a comment on the announcement at this time.
