City Of Binghamton Announces Curfew Amid COVID-19 Concern

BINGHAMTON, NY (WSKG) - Binghamton Mayor Rich David is implementing a nightly curfew effective immediately.

According to a press release, the release requires residents to be inside between 10 P.M. and 5 A.M. until further notice and avoid large groups.

The announcement does not apply to people traveling to-and-from work, travel for emergency services or to the grocery story and pharmacy.

The decision comes as Broome County health officials announce the first positive test in the county.

“With a new confirmed case of COVID-19 in Broome County, and following discussions with Binghamton public safety officials, we are taking the next step necessary to slow the spread of the virus and keep our community as safe as possible,” said David.

Binghamton City Hall is currently closed to the public.
