VESTAL, NY (WSKG) - The 2020 Eastern League All-Star Game and Home Run Derby, which had been scheduled for Binghamton in July, are canceled due to COVID-19, that's according to the Binghamton Rumble Ponies.
In a press release, the team said Minor League Baseball canceled the game due to a delay to the start of the 2020 regular season. The events had been slated for July 14 and 15.
“This is a very unfortunate casualty of the COVID-19 virus," Rumble Ponies Team President John Hughes said. "I know how much went into this from our community. The fans, the elected officials, and the team went all in to put our best foot forward."
The team announced those who have purchased tickets can exchange them for two 2020 regular season tickets of equal-or-lesser value, which the Rumble Ponies still hope will be played in some condensed form.
